The Yackandandah community has told us they highly value a heated pool or exercise pool as we develop our plans for the Community Hub.
Such a pool rated highly in our recent community survey where we asked you to tell us about your top three priorities from a list of 29 ideas that had been nominated by the community earlier this year.
The Community Hub vision is for a space that can be used by aged care residents and the public to facilitate wellbeing and community interaction. As well as providing space for current services, it may provide areas for new services, a café and a home for community groups.
The top priorities from the survey were:
• Heated pool / exercise pool
• Dentist
• Hospital
• Palliative care
• Gym
• Local bus / public transport
• Cinema / theatre
• Adolescent mental health service
The following were new ideas you put forward:
• Outreach beyond Yack for meals on wheels, district nurse, handyman
• Pre-natal and post-natal care
• Youth hub / flexible design
• Hire of pedal assisted bikes and trikes
• Safe off-road pathways for bikes and mobility scooters
• New equipment
• Mothers’ group space
• Art space studio
• Consulting rooms with central admin booking
CEO, Annette Nuck said this feedback would now be considered by the Committee of Management as it works with the architect to develop a concept plan for the Community Hub.
Ms Nuck said she was pleased with the response to the survey.
“The health benefits of an exercise pool for people of all ages are well understood. We will now need to do some investigation of sustainable models and funding opportunities,” she said.
“I would like to thank everyone who completed the survey. Of those who responded, 45% were members of a Yack community group and 20% were family members of a resident. We had feedback from all age-groups from 19 years old upwards.”
Winners of the $50 YCD Co vouchers were:
