The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety has commenced public hearings. The Commission’s terms of reference are broad and will investigate the failings of the current system, as well as the quality of care being provided. Early hearings have included discussions on staffing levels, skills, the quality agency and pay rates.
We hope that as the hearings progress, the positive models of care will also be highlighted.
At Yackandandah Health, we believe we provide our elders with a positive lifestyle and excellent clinical care. We have submitted a response to a list of questions forwarded to all aged care providers and will be happy to provide further information if asked.
Funding for the sector is a major concern, as we have had successive years with real decreases in the care subsidy as a result of changes to the assessment system.
Increased funding will mean that we can continue to not only maintain the quality of care we presently deliver, but improve further the daily life of those who live with us.
